About

To all who come to this blog, welcome!

Hi, I’m Linsey. And after a long time spent thinking about creating a blog and website like this, I’ve finally decided it’s time to combine a love of Disney theme parks, a love of writing and the accumulated knowledge that I’ve been imparting to friends, colleagues and more for years.

I aim to use the blog as a way to give advice, post reviews and share photography. It will primarily have a Walt Disney World bias though I will post about other parks as well. Which begs the question: why do I think that I’m qualified to give out such advice and opinions?

For this explanation we need to go back. Way back. 25 years… give or take a day.

In 1992, our family took its first visit to the USA and specifically to Orlando so that we could go to Walt Disney World. This was to be a once in a lifetime family vacation so my sister and I were told to make the best of it. By the time we all got home, it was agreed that we all enjoyed it so much that we HAD to go back. And so the following year we went again, and then the year after and so on. It then became a twice yearly visit, then my parents invested in a timeshare in Orlando, then they bought a house.

In 2002 I moved from Scotland to San Diego as part of my studies at University. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life, gave me new independence and luckily put me in good stead for the future. After I finished my post-graduate studies in 2006, I took a vacation to Florida. I was heading into the big, bad, real world but I took a look around EPCOT and at the United Kingdom pavilion and I said to myself: ‘I can do that’. So once I got home I investigated and sure enough, there was a way for me to work there. So in 2007, I left Scotland for another year abroad, this time as a cultural representative at the UK pavilion, working in the Rose and Crown. I loved every minute of it, even the bad days. Working for Disney was a dream come true. Alas, it was something we could only experience once…

… until we were told a few years later that the recruiters were willing to allow repeats. So I applied again and was fortunate enough to get the opportunity to return, which I did in 2011. The year was just as amazing as the first, though perhaps I was a little older and a little wiser about capitalising on what I could. I was also able to move into the bar rather than just service and I became a Disney Trainer.

In 2013 I embarked on a new Disney journey, this time with the Disney Cruise Line working on board the Wonder. I learned a lot in that six months – part of that was how difficult it is to work on the ships and that my career didn’t lie with DCL, but I’m better for the experience and again, took advantage of what I could.

Now I am back home in Scotland but I get to take advantage of my parents’ retirement, giving me a place to stay when I head out on vacation which allows me to go more often, but now just as a tourist! I’m an Annual Passholder, mainly because it’s the most economical way to enjoy what the parks have to offer and boy do I make the most of my pass when I’m there! In 2017 we celebrated 25 years since our first visit – complete with tacky tourist t-shirts I forced everyone to wear on a special day at EPCOT (the first Disney park we ever visited).

In many ways this blog is a vanity project – I enjoy taking photographs around Walt Disney World and share them on my instagram and I wanted to expand on that. I also like to think I know a lot about the parks and hopefully my advice will be useful.

I’m looking at a lot of different ideas for themes for my posts and suggestions are welcome as are any questions you might have about your next trip. Just head to the contact page for more info!
